BACK TO THE START

15 APRIL 2006. SATURDAY. 11:08PM.

What an adventure. KL was fun, new and exciting for me, and the rain didn't dampen our spirits, just our clothes. The traffic was horrid, our hotel had an 8-hour blackout, and our friend's car got towed away while we had our steamboat dinner, but hey what's a trip without its dramas! Shopping was mad, so much fun buying in a currency that's works so much in your favour. I picked up my first fake Chanel which got cheaper by the seconds i walked away, it looks so cheap it matches the rest of my wardrobe. We each got new correctly spelt Adidas sneakers and american tshirts from the outlet store. Our friends took us out for the night in town, we ended up club hopping and singing badly to 80s music. I love tourist-dancing, you know it's the kind that you don't try to look cool 'cos you know you ain't seeing those people again, so your hands flap all over and you sing in the wrong key. Wicked fun. On our way back, a local showed us one of his faves for lunch. We parked in some family's driveway and ate in a tucked away hut that felt like the insides of a rice cooker! I tried very hard not to wonder what goes on in the basins on the floor, and drank a weird mix of soya bean and grass jelly. I'm so proud of myself that i never once peeked into the basin full of plates being cleaned. 'Cos what you don't know, won't hurt you. SEE TRIP PHOTOS HERE.
