Oh darn, do we have to start a whole new year again? I wasn't allowed to leave town without a bake off at least. If this is how my new year cycle would be determined, looks like i will be in the kitchen plenty. To snub all traditions of fireworks and dance parties, I spent the last hours watching a movie about my fave museum in new york city and squealing with laughter as Ben Stiller entertained. With 30 minutes before the clock chimes historically, we drove hurriedly hoping to cheat time of a couple of minutes to get to our countdown destination that was awaiting us with nibbles and booze. With 5 minutes to spare we quickly got wine into the glasses just in time to toast to the brand new year. With the festive hugging and drinking done with, i settled into a night of Star Wars marathon with late night chats well into the wee hours. Today I was summoned to a kitchen for some bonding over baking. We started off with an online apple cinnamon recipe and finished off with Betty Crocker's Choc Muffins. The result, a mountainous load of sugary goodness. I wished every new year does not equate to fresh starts. I'd rather happily think of it as moving on to the next 365 days with no pressure for change or any greatness. So I'm declaring that this year will be the year of getting by without any preempt for anything super. Hail the year of very very low expectations!
